Thomas Cook is one of the most well known and
prestigious travel companies in the world and
one of the first UK travel companies to launch a
fully bookable website.
Throughout the years, thomascook.com has
developed and evolved to meet its customer’s
requirements and the demands of this fast
changing market. In 2007, Thomas Cook decided
that it needed to re-evaluate its e-commerce
strategy and technology platform to support its
plans for future growth.
Travology was engaged to help with defining the
business and technical requirements and finding
the most suitable technical solution to meet the
needs for the future of one of the most visited
travel websites in the world.
Working closely with senior Directors, business
and technical staff and key suppliers, Travology
helped define the strategy and started looking
for suitable solutions.
Throughout the supplier selection stage,
Travology’s in-depth knowledge of travel
technology suppliers enabled Thomas Cook to
quickly identify potential suppliers and engage
in evaluating their solutions and how they would
all fit together. The selection of a suitable
systems integrator was also a key part to this
project.
In March 2007, 4 key systems suppliers were
recommended to provide an enterprise e-commerce
solution fit to meet the requirements of Thomas
Cook. Alongside this, a systems integrator
partner was selected and the project to roll out
the solution began.
